What To Do When Your Water Won’t Run
A working faucet is something we all take for granted. At the turn of a gear, we almost always have access to safe, clean, running water. So it comes as a bit of a shock when suddenly…we don’t.

Check Where The Problem Is
The very first step is to check whether the problem is localized. If you turned on your bathroom faucet to no avail – go check on the kitchen sink. If that sink works, the problem is with that specific spigot. It is either clogged or dislodged, broken, or bent. If you can’t figure out exactly which, give us a call at (440) 283-9377 to have one of our expert plumbers take a look.
If you have a dual-knob system (separate hot/cold taps), make sure to try both taps. If the cold faucet works but the hot is malfunctioning then you’ll have to check your water heater. It could be turned off or clogged – try flushing the system and give it a whirl.
Check That The Water Is On
Ok. Bear with us. This may have been the first thing you looked at, but make sure that your water main is in fact in the “on” position. Open it all the way and double check. It happens more often than you think!
If you are having trouble turning the valve, it could be lodged in a halfway position, not allowing enough water pressure through to reach all the way to your sink. Grab your pliers (carefully please!) and give it a tug.
See If It’s A Bigger Issue
Call your water company! Call your neighbors! If you’re not the only one affected, it is generally a bigger issue and one you won’t be able to solve on your own.
